// CHICAGO // LOOP, RIVER NORTH, LINCOLN PARK //
another artisanal chitown donuterie that is worth the calories
There’s no denying that Chicago loves its donuts. There are entire tours dedicated to donut tasting. And whether you’re an old fashioned kind of person or a classic glazed or perhaps even a cake donut lover, Firecakes has got you covered. This homegrown, Midwestern rooted donut shop delivers on style and substance.
They serve up upgraded classics (think: wildflower honey for their take on a glazed donut, and valrhona chocolate for their take on an iced donut) as well as seasonal flavors and what they call “creations on vacation” where the rules go out the door and creativity goes wild (think: margarita, banana split, eggnog, or chocolate mascarpone and fig brulée). They also do mini donuts too, if you’re feeling less indulgent. OR, if you’re feeling like you want to try lots of flavors…
